Social Media: What Every Parent & Child Should Know [Event]

I’ll be a Panelist, this Saturday, at Stone Mountain-Lithonia Alumnae Chapter’s “Social Media Town Hall!” Teaching kids, teens, and parents about being safe on social media. I’ll focus on how what you say on social media (both good and bad things you say) can help or hurt you. (Yes, “good” comments can hurt you too) Hope to see you there!  -Elana Winfrey, Creator & Results Strategist

5 Types of Social Media Posts - and Why!

Social Media SuccessSocial media marketing is critical in building relationships with your current and potential clients.  Although not to be used for direct marketing or “selling,” an effective social media campaign will definitely drive traffic to your website; ultimately turning site visitors into “sales!”

The key components of an effective social media strategy are:

  • Information content
  • Educational content
  • Inspirational posts
  • Humorous
  • Providing solutions

Make sure your posts are primarily focused on encouraging your audience to engage with you, not to “buy” from you. The engagement helps to build trust and a relationship with you, which will eventually compel people to “buy.” Be patient.

Know where your audience hangs out, and choose a few networks that will allow for ‘meeting’ new people within your target audience. Start conversations, and participate in conversations that others have started. Be authentic in your interactions, while at the same time having your goals in mind.

Effective social media efforts require you to be consistent and responsive. So have a plan of action for how you will post daily and respond to your audience quickly. What’s your plan? ZKUWSZ27G68D

Post To Your Facebook Business Page 1 To 3 Times Per Day

For best results in engaging your audience, post to your Facebook business page at least 1 time per day, but no more than 3 times per day. 1-3 Facebook posts per day is the range for successful fan pages; it has been deemed to be the most effective for audience engagement. Any more than 3, and people become annoyed. Any less than 1 per day, and people don’t see you as serious about your business.

According to Kiss Metrics, “How often you post on Facebook matters,” and with an Infograph from Buddy Media, show us how engagement with your audience on your business page increases with 1-2 posts per day.  Go to Kiss Metrics to learn more….

4 Reasons That Your Social Media Efforts Must Be Consistent

It’s easy enough to set up a profile on social media network, but then comes the work of actually using the profile to connect with your audience.

An effective social media campaign requires that you are consistent. Consistency means that you have a presence in which people see you interacting and engaging with them and other members of your audience each and every day. With an effective social media campaign people come to look for, and eventually expect, you to be a person who provides current, informative, and educational information. You establish yourself as an authority figure and as a company committed to serving your current and potential clients.

Being consistent on social media:
1. Helps to establish you as an authority figure
2. Builds credibility, through evidence of commitment to providing solutions
3. Builds up your brand
4. Keeps you “top-of-mind” with your online audience. People in need will think of you first.

Once you establish a social media presence, make a plan for how and when you’ll post content. Then stick to the plan. A presence with lack of consistency can be worse than no presence at all. Be consistent, or don’t do it at all.

NOT incorporating social media into your marketing mix is simply ‘strange’ as of 2013. Remember when websites came about, it took a while for everyone to get on board. Social media has gone through this same migration process; and NOW, telling someone your not on Facebook or Twitter makes them squint with wonderment. “You’re not on Facebook?!” What would be your acceptable response? There just isn’t one.

Yes, your customers expect your social presence and LOOK for you. Not being present is a terribly missed opportunity to:

  • Build your Brand
  • Get word-of mouth referrals
  • Build up a following of potential new customers
  • Increase promotion sales
  • Drive leads to to your website throughout each day
  • …and so much more!

Social media is now one of the Top 5 marketing tools due to its overwhelming effectiveness. You’ve got to make the commitment to engage with current and potential customers online. Need help with that? Contact us today!
